The Mom of one of my former students cuts my hair in her kitchen. She works from home instead of in a salon, and it saves her a bundle of money plus keeps her home with her girls. This picture was given to me by Cammy, her youngest daughter, and I’m sure she gave me some great explanation about what’s going here…I just don’t remember. Any guesses?

After six hours of reheasal (two for Winter’s Tale and four for my own show), these are The Body Parts That Hurt:
Tailbone=A result of doing two many rolls down to the floor without proper succession of spinal bumps.
Shoulders= Rusult of too many shoulder rolls, (and damn if I can only do them on the right shoulder, which is now purple).
Ribs= Result of being partnered with a guy who just didn’t know what he was doing. Instad of lifting me with his hands, he lifted me with his fingers. This combined with not wearing a leotard resulted in skin on skin contact and what looks like rope burn on my ribs.
Arms= Result of whipping around a four foot staff for the combat piece (Legendary) and not being very strong in the upper body in general.
Back= Was squished into the ground by another dancer trying to do a lift off the floor, and, in general, did not protect my lower back during high stress movements.
Abdominals= Trying to engage them instead of my butt (the most overworked muscle overall) but again, I was kicked in the stomach accidentally during Legendary.
OK, OK, All of this makes me feel like a major bad ass. The knowledge I have of my body is now divided into pain catagories. I’m sure people must feel like this if they truly “work out” and focus on different muscle groups. I’ve never been successfull at working out, simply because this is just a lot more fun. I’m gonna soak in epsom salts right now…any advice on how to treat over worked muscles and general soreness?

An artsy photo I shot of our celebratory drinks against the Pacific City back drop.

I know it’s late but I’m still posting pics from our NW trip. August 16 was our one year anniversary which we spent at the coast. It was fantastic. Here’s Josh uncorking the champaign that I managed to wrangle from our hotel staff. (Heh heh…and than I realized it wasn’t real champaign at all, but sparkling, wine product).

Ryan and I really like cats. This is a picture of Ryan waking up a cat sleeping on the roof of someone’s car…the cat was all groggy and impatient with us. I inisisted on a few photos. If you look really closely, this cat has a dark marking under his nose that makes him look kind of like Hitler.
