Just a quick post to let all you know: I’m going for it! Thank you for your kind, insighful, posts despite it being a busy holiday weekend.

Mara,
The teaching job that I have now fell into my lap four years ago after two years of working as an educational assistant at the same site. I don’t have any sort of certification, and I had no idea of all of the things I would go through because of this job! But it has been an amazing opportunity to learn from, and yes, it’s a great thing to have on your resume. The position that I am in is going to end after this coming school year, but I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything. You’ll be working with some amazing kids. I also gravitate toward the older set, but smart younger kids are almost as awesome to work with. So you don’t know if you want to be a teacher? This is a great way to find out with no strings attatched. Although I haven’t seen you in quite some time, I think you have it in you. It makes sense to me! Be glad that you wouldn’t be working in a “regular” school–I’m not and it makes ALL the difference, believe me.
Remember that life is now! You could stick by the sure thing, but think of all of the amazing possibilities that could come from this! Yes, one of those possibilities is that you might be out of a job in a year, but I don’t think that that should be a worry–you’ll find work. Right?
Wishing you well,
Christine (and Jason vicariously through me)

!Buen Seleccion! Retail is a dead end. Teaching has loads of perks. If it doesn’t work out there’s always the Peace Corps.
